Roland has garnered over 15 years experience in the financial services industry in Nigeria having worked with United Bank of Africa Plc, Oceanic Bank of Nigeria and National Bank of Nigeria. Roland is currently a non-executive director of Pison Housing Company, a commercial real estate and housing finance advisory firm with considerable deal making muscle providing customized services to individuals, corporate, and multinational companies. He is also a consultant with the World Bank Group (WBG) on the Investment Climate Program (ICP) and Mortgage Pilot Project of Lagos State. He also worked with the WBG on the building permits and licenses mapping for commercial real estate in Lagos, Nigeria. Roland has led a multidisciplinary team of real estate professionals to secure US$100 Million of syndicated loans / club deal for about 2000 units of housing in Nigeria. Currently he is leading a multidisciplinary team on a total portfolio of US$400 Million real estate financing for three joint venture developments in Nigeria. Roland is also leading a team of consultants through a special purpose vehicle in a strategic partnership with a renowned international financial asset management company for a US$500 Million REITs Fund to be listed in the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Also, Roland is on the team of financial advisors structuring a US$ 250 Million debt capital for a client from his offshore parties who has committed to real estate investment in Nigeria for the next five years. He is also currently a member of the technical committee (mortgage sector) of the Financial System Strategy 2020 (FSS 2020), the Federal Government of Nigeria financial schemes reform driven by the Central Bank of Nigeria. With housing finance study internships in Mexico, India, Thailand, South Africa, Europe, Canada & America, Roland’s interest and zeal in developing the Nigerian real estate and housing finance sector is well known. Roland is also the Executive Vice Chair, Roland Igbinoba Real Foundation for Housing and Urban Development. The Foundation is a corporate social responsibility effort and a non-governmental initiative aimed at providing information and analytics to the housing market in Nigeria. The Foundation is strictly set up as an institution for capital, advocacy and policy making towards the development of the Nigerian housing market and ultimately the provision of affordable housing to the citizenry. Femi started his Banking career in 1992 at Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, and has worked in Diamond Bank Limited, as well as First Atlantic Bank Plc before joining Guardian Express Bank Plc in 2001 as the Group Head, Telecoms and Technology. He held various positions with the bank including Branch Manager, Victoria Island, Branch Manager, Ikeja, Chief Financial Officer/Group Head, Strategy and Brand development, and Group Head, FCY Treasury, before his appointment as the pioneer General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Express Mortgage Limited in April 2004. He was appointed Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Spring Mortgage Limited in September 2006, consequent upon the merger of banks that birthed Spring Bank Plc. Femi has had varied experience in banking, covering areas like Credits and Marketing, Financial Control, Strategy and Planning, Treasury, Banking Operations, Branding and Communications, Mortgage Banking, etc., and he has performed exceptionally in all these areas of banking He is a Fellow (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a Fellow (FCTI) of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), an Honorary Senior Chartered Banker (HCIB) of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), and also an Associate of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, (NYSSCPA), USA. He is currently undertaking a DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) programme at the Cranfield University, United Kingdom in Economics and Finance and holds an MBA degree from the Lagos Business School. He had previously obtained an MBA from the University of Ado-Ekiti and has attended several foreign and local courses including courses at the Cranfield University, United Kingdom, INSEAD University, Abu Dhabi Campus, IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, Spain, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation, etc. He is the current President of the Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria (MBAN).He was Deputy President of the Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria (MBAN) and served on the Executive Committee of the association for 7 years, both in this capacity and previously as Auditor. He has served as a Chairman and member of various sub-committees of MBAN including the Liquidity Facility and Secondary Mortgage market creation committee, the committee on creation of Electronic Payments in Mortgage banks, Money Market Association and transactions creation committee, Enabling Policies for the creation of Mortgage Brokers operations committee, prevention of Subprime mortgages in the mortgage market in Nigeria committee, Central Bank of Nigeria’s Electronic Financial Analysis and Surveillance System (EFASS) compliance committee, the committee working with USAID on mortgage participation/collaboration in Nigeria, the committee working on setting up an effective mortgage securitization system in Nigeria, the external communications and branding committee, the committee in charge of the annual Housing Finance Exhibition, and also the constitution review committee. Captain Femi Olaiya managed the Logistics Division at ExxonMobil (Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited). He joined ExxonMobil in 2005 as the Field Aviation Supervisor, and had also served as Aviation Superintendent, and Logistics Superintendent before becoming the Logistics Manager. Before then, he had worked with Bristow Helicopters from 1993 to 2005 as a Chief Pilot, and also served in various capacities while there, such as Training Captain, Simulator Examiner, Line Training Captain, Safety Captain, and Helicopter Pilot.
